What's New for the 2018 Subaru Outback?

Longtime fans of the Subaru Outback might notice the exterior appearance of the 2018 model looks a little different. That's because this year's model has a different front grille, an updated front and rear end appearance, and a new headlight design. Plus, this car has an all-new exterior side mirror design, which the engineers say will help reduce cabin noise inside for you, and your passengers.

Once inside the 2018 Subaru Outback, drivers will notice a new dashboard layout, including a new center console and new tech features.

 Despite all of these interior and exterior changes, however, the 2018 version of the Outback remains true to what Bay Area drivers have always loved about this model. It still has its distinctive, sporty, wagon style. It still has nearly nine inches of ground clearance. It still seats five in it spacious interior, and it still offers a tremendous 35.5 cubic feet of cargo storage, which expands to an incredible 73.3 cubic feet of storage with the rear seats folded flat.

Plus, of course, it still comes with the signature Subaru standard feature the carmaker is known for - Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive.

However, all 2018 models, regardless of trim level or engine type, come paired to a continuously variable automatic transmission.
