2017 Subaru Outback Named Best Wagon for Sixth Year in a Row

If you’re in the market for a sleek and spacious new vehicle and you’re mulling over your options, you may want to consider the 2017 Subaru Outback. It just won the U.S. News & World Report’s 2017 Best Cars for Families awards in the Best Wagon for Families segment for the sixth year in a row. Among other things, it was praised for its ample amount of room for both passengers and cargo, all-wheel drive capability, safety and reliability, as well as its user-friendly multimedia system.

After two decades, the fifth-generation Subaru Outback still continues its reign as a segment leader, and it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. Standard features include All-Wheel Drive, raised ground clearance, X-Mode, Hill Descent Control and Hill Start Assist. 2017 saw the introduction of a new flagship model with Outback Touring. More defining features include a Touring-specific dark gray grille and 18-inch wheels with dark gray accents and a machined finish.

If you look under the hood you’ll see that the Outback comes standard with a 2.5-liter SUBARU BOXER engine and Lineartronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) with a manual mode and paddle shifters. The Outback 2.5i gets up to 25 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway, and according to the EPA-estimated fuel economy, it is among the highest for midsize SUVs with all-wheel drive, which sends power to all wheels at the same time for maximum traction. To help the driver stay on course in wet conditions, it automatically sends power to the wheels with the best traction.

The U.S. News & World Report, a nationally recognized publisher of consumer advice and information, evaluated 211 cruisers and named winners in 18 categories.
